When buying a new home, it’s natural for people to think about the surrounding school system, convenience to various locations, and the functionality and flow of the floor plan. But have you ever thought about the function and design when it comes to your furry family members?
According to the 2017-2018 APA National Pet Owners Survey, 68% of U.S. households own a pet, which equates to 84.6 million homes. With this in mind, it’s no wonder that people are often looking for pet-friendly designs for their new homes.
Being a company made up of pet owners, we’re always up for the challenge of helping to design and build a new pet space. There’s always a homeowner who requests a pet door, normally a doggy door, but have you ever wanted a space that’s dedicated to your furry babies? That’s exactly what we did for one happy Magnolia Homeowner with 2 Golden Retrievers who made her utility room a dual space for her dogs. Even cuter, we added a Dutch door in the utility room so the dogs could see out while in “their room”. We then took it a step further and built a dog wash station in the garage with cabinets underneath for storage, a hand-held sprayer, and drainage system perfect for all that dog hair.
In another Magnolia Home, we built a room off of the garage specifically for 2 Labradors. This room is both heated and cooled with a doggy door for the dogs to enter the backyard. There’s also a water supply to give them water 24/7 and built-in shelves and cabinets to hold all off their supplies, e.g., food, collars, toys, etc.
